Shell comes back to China

Shell has signed an agreement with sinopec to explore for shale oil resources in eastern China with shengli oilfield, Reuters reported on Monday.Shell's return signals both its interest in China's shale resources and its growing confidence. China's unconventional resource development is booming as its demand for crude oil and natural gas continues to rise. In addition to shale gas, several oil fields in China have been explored for shale oil.
Morgan Stanley believes the size of these Numbers means China's shale oil revolution is coming. "Given that China has learned a considerable amount of shale development technology from overseas partners, this could accelerate China's shale oil revolution," the report said. But with the "explosion" of shale oil development, there are huge opportunities for the industry, especially for service companies, because shale oil exploration and development requires horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing, which means more equipment is needed.
