Perforation completion
17/04/2019

- Perforation completion includes casing perforation completion and liner perforation completion.

During perforating, the jet beam formed by high-energy explosive explosion is used to shoot through the casing, cement ring and part of the stratum of the oil and gas well to establish the oil and gas passage between the oil and gas layer and the wellbore. Perforation is an important part of well completion technology, which has a significant impact on completion mode, productivity, life and development and production cost of oil and gas Wells.

Perforation completion is the most widely used completion method at home and abroad. It can be used in vertical Wells, directional Wells and horizontal Wells. In oil and gas Wells with perforating completion, perforation hole is the only channel to communicate between production layer and wellbore.

On the one hand, perforation process is to establish several flow channels connecting oil and gas layers and wellbore for oil and gas flow, on the other hand, it also causes certain damage to oil and gas layers.

- casing perforation completion: casing perforation is to use a drill bit of the same size to drill through the oil layer to the designed well depth, then run the casing down to the bottom of the oil layer and cement the well. Finally, the perforation ejects through the casing and cement ring of the oil layer and penetrates a certain depth of the oil layer to establish the oil (gas) flow channel.

- liner perforation completion: after the drill bit reaches the oil zone, cement the technical casing, then drill through the oil zone to the designed depth with a smaller drill bit, and send the liner down and hang on the technical casing with the drilling tool. In general, the coincidence section between liner and technical casing shall be no less than 50m. Cement the liner and then perforate.

- horizontal well perforation and completion: generally, after cementing in the straight section under the technical casing, the completion liner is inserted in the horizontal section, cementing is performed, and finally perforation is performed in the horizontal section.

Geological conditions for perforation completion:

1. Complicated geological conditions, such as gas cap, or bottom water, or water-bearing interlayer, easy to collapse interlayer, require the implementation of the reservoir in the separation section

2. There are differences in pressure and lithology among different layers, so it is required to implement stratified testing, stratified oil production, stratified water injection and stratified reservoir treatment

3. Low permeability reservoirs requiring large-scale hydraulic fracturing

4. Sandstone reservoir and carbonate fractured reservoir.
