KINGWELL RTTS Packer Features & Benefits:

The RTTS packer is a full-opening, hookwall packer used for testing, treating, and squeeze cementing operations. In most cases, the tool runs with a circulating valve assembly.

RTTS packer consists of hydraulic anchor, rubber barrel, slip holder, slip, slip bracket, reversing friction block, outer central pipe, inner central pipe, upper joint and so on.

The tool is run slightly below the desired setting position to set the packer and is then picked up and rotated several turns. If the tool is on the bottom, only a half-turn is actually required.

KINGWELL RTTS Packer

Introduction

The RTTS packer is a full-opening, hookwall packer used for testing, treating, and squeeze cementing operations. Generally, it is necessary to run the RTTS Packer with an RTTS Circulating Valve assembly, or Model 2 RTTS Circulating Valve assembly for casing sizes 8 5/8 in. and larger. It is also recommended, but optional, to include a safety joint in the string.

The packer body includes a J-slot mechanism, mechanical slips, packer elements, and hydraulic slips. Large, heavy-duty slips in the hydraulic hold down mechanism help prevent the tool from being pumped up the hole. Drag springs operate the J-slot mechanism on ≤ 3 1/2-in. (88.9-mm) packer bodies, while larger packer sizes≥ 4-in. (101.6 mm) use drag blocks. Automatic J-slot sleeves are standard equipment on all packer bodies.

The full-opening design of the packer mandrel bore allows large volumes of fluid to pump through the tool. Tubing-type guns and other wire line tools can be run through the packer

The packer can be set and relocated as many times as necessary with simple tubing manipulation.

Tungsten carbide slips provide greater holding ability and improved wear resistance in high-strength casing. Pressure through the tubing activates the slips in the hydraulic hold-down mechanism.

Setting the RTTS Packer

To set the packers, follow these steps:

1.Run the tool slightly below the setting position.

2.Lift to the setting position.

3.Rotate the pipe to the right several turns.

4.Maintaining right-hand torque in the pipe, slack off until the mechanical slips on the packer body begin to take weight.
5.Stop pipe movement and relieve torque by turning the pipe to the left. (Approximately onehalf

turn per 1,000 ft of pipe is usually sufficient; however, do not turn the pipe to the left any more than it was turned to the right in the setting process.)
6. As the left-hand torque is applied, move the tubing down until the required amount of weight is on the packer.

Vulnerable Parts

We also always offer vulnerable parts of packer for our customers, such as packer rings inconel bolt, inconel drag-block, spring, o-ring, hydraulic slip, slip-retractor spring, mechanical slip, top shoe etc.

KINGWELL Circulating Valve

Introduction

The RTTS circulating valve is a locked-open/locked-closed valve that serves as both a circulating valve and a bypass. This valve was designed for use with the RTTS Packer. The RTTS circulating valve is automatically locked in the closed position when the packer is set. During testing and squeezing operations, the lock helps prevent the valve from being pumped open.

Operating Procedure

The RTTS Circulating Valve may be run directly above the packer body or farther up the workstring. The operating principle is based on lug movements in a J-slot. The lugs move with workstring manipulation. When the lug is in the upper position, the circulating valve is open; when the lug is in the lower position, the circulating valve is closed. The RTTS Circulating Valve is normally used in the following sequence:
1.Run in the hole.
2. Set the RTTS Packer.

3.Spot cement or acid, if necessary.

4.Performance test, treat, or squeeze job.

5.Pull out of the hole.

KINGWELL Safety Joint

Introduction

The RTTS Safety Joint is an optional tool that aids in removal of the workstring if the packer becomes stuck (cemented in, stuck in collapsed casing, etc.). To initiate the release of the safety joint, part a tension sleeve by pulling on the workstring with enough overpull to shear the tension sleeve.

Running the Safety Joint

1. The optional safety joint may be run above the circulating valve or between the circulating valve and the RTTS Packer body:
2. When the safety joint is run above the circulating valve, make it up directly into the top adapter of the valve.
3. When the safety joint is run between the circulating valve and the packer body, remove the adapter on the bottom of the safety joint and screw it into the top adapter of the safety joint. This procedure leaves a straight thread on the bottom of the joint, which can then be made up directly into the top of the packer body. The circulating valve can then be made up directly into the adapter on the top of the safety joint.
