Drilling operations(5)-Well drilling tools

The well drilling tools mainly consist of  kelly, drill pipe, drill collar, drill pipe joint, stabilizer and various kinds of joint.
 
1. The kelly is located at the top of the drill string. The upper part is connected to the faucet and the lower part is connected to the drill pipe. To transmit torque, kelly sections are square or hexagonal in shape.
 
There are thread fasteners on both ends of kelly, the upper end is reverse and the lower end is positive, preventing automatic shackle when rotating


 
2, the drill pipe is the basic component of the drill string, is made of circular section, wall thickness hollow seamless steel pipe, its main role is to transfer torque, transport drilling fluid, connection and extension of the drill string has been to deepen the hole.
 
All the commonly used drill pipes on site are butt-welded drill pipes without fine thread. The common single root is about 9m long


 
3. Drill collar is mainly used to exert drilling pressure on the drill bit and prevent deviation. It is made of high-grade alloy steel with a wall thickness of 38~53mm. Because the drill collar is thick and rigid, it is not easy to bend under the action of bit pressure, which is conducive to preventing the well deviation and drilling tool.
